[adsense]MetroPCS is the fifth largest mobile communications provider in the United States. MetroPCS, previously known as General Wireless uses CDMA technology in a up to 3G in addition to its LTE (Long Term Evolution) network which provides 4G speeds.

MetroPCS reviews are generally positive due to the inexpensive rates and no contract smartphones. They generally provide mobile service in major towns and cities across the US, but MetroPCS also has roaming agreements with other carriers for when their users find themselves outside the reach of their cell towers.


 

Metro PCS Plans

MetroPCS provides rate plans that offer unlimited talk, text and data usage. Price ranges are based on various options and features which vary among price points.

 

4G LTE Plans

  • $40/month – Offers unlimited talk, text and web. The first 250MB of data is given at 4G speeds, after this threshold is reached, speeds are reduced for the remainder of the billing cycle.
  • $50/month – Offers unlimited talk, text and web. The initial 2.5GB of data is rated at 4G speeds, after this is reached, speeds are reduced for the remainder of the monthly billing cycle.
  • $60/month – Offers unlimited talk, text and web. The first 5GB of data is served at 4G speeds, afterwards, data speeds are reduced for the remainder of the billing cycle. Includes the Rhapsody Unlimited Music plan which offers access to countless music and songs.
  • $70/month – The most features of the Metro PCS Plans. Not only offers unlimited talk text and web, but also includes access to video on demand and Rhapsody unlimited music.


 

3G LTE Plans

  • $40/month – Comes with unlimited talk, text and data.
  • $45/month – Offers unlimited talk, text and data plus additional features such as unlimited international text and premium directory assistance.
  • $50/month – Offers the unlimited talk, text and data of the other plans in this category, in addition to email, instant messaging and the MetroPCS branded navigation software called MetroNavigator.

The plans you can participate in depends on the type of phone you use for service. Each plan goes along with the phone used for service. As a result, there currently is not a Metro PCS family plan at the current time. Each plan comes with no contracts and nationwide service.

MetroPCS offers various Android OS smartphones which can be operated on it’s 3G and 4G network. Some phones can be considered modern and powerful such as the 4G capable LG Connect, LG Esteem and Samsung Galaxy Attain. Others may not pack the same punch, but still come packed with features such as the LG Optimus Metro PCS (LG Optimus M+), ZTE Score M+ and Samsung Admire. MetroPCS reviews vary based on the type of phone used. Be sure to see the MetroPCS website for each offered phone and its features.

Pros:

Metro PCS offers a good variety of no contract smartphones at that can be used at 4G and 3G speeds where available. The rates are inexpensive ranging from $40 and up. Plans offer unlimited voice, messaging and data.

 

Cons:

MetroPCS has expanded greatly, but may not be fully available in all areas of the US.
