[adsense]Walmart Family Mobile now has some of the most inexpensive no contract plans in the wireless market. Often confused with Straight Talk and sometimes Net10 and T-Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile is a joint collaboration designed to offer a competitive price with an unlimited voice, text and data no contract plan. Although many on the phones offered may be less than desirable to some, there is nothing to fear, because Walmart Family Mobile also offers a bring your own phone program which can result in just about any GSM T-Mobile compatible phone being used at their affordable prices.

Walmart Family Mobile – Charges

Walmart offers a unique plan structure, specifically designed for individuals and families who are on a budget or just prefer not to spend an arm and a leg on monthly wireless service.  The initial cost to set up service is a $25 fee called a “Starter Kit” which is required for each line you would like to be activated.  Afterwards, you are charged $34.88 for a single line or first line, and an additional $29.88 for each additional line that you would like to have on your plan.  This plan features unlimited talk , texting and web usage on T-mobile’s nationwide cellular 3G Network for up to 3.5 GB of shared access.  The popularity of this plan is expected to take off because for the same features, you could be charged over $100 per month on some wireless carriers.

The Walmart Family Mobile plan initially does not come with a lot of smartphone choices.  But, they offer a way to have a huge selection of options to use at the same time; which we will explain later.  For those seeking no contract smartphones, Walmart offers the MyTouch 4G Android Smartphone which can be used on this plan.  Popular with T-Mobile users, the MyTouch 4G smartphone is a mighty little entry level touchscreen smartphone with the Android 2.2 Operating System.  This phone has all the features of an Android powered phone including Wi-Fi capability.  Desire a more powerful smartphone or is your Walmart sold out?  Well do not despair.  Currently, Walmart Family Mobile will accept any unlocked GSM smartphone that can be used on T-mobile’s network.  That means popular choices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, the popular Google Nexus 4 and even a iPhone 5 can be purchased unlocked, and activated and used on the Walmart Family Mobile plan at these reasonable prices.  All it takes is for the unlocked smartphone, a $25 starter kit purchase for each phone you want to use, and a call to T-Mobile’s Activation at 877-308-9621.

Offerings such as this can become a huge bargain for those who desire a nice Android, iPhone or Blackberry smartphone but without the huge monthly costs.  We are excited to see this take place and can’t wait to see if there will be any response from other carriers to complete.

  1. this is the worst cell phone service I ever had, you call the customer service line at 877-760-8760 you cannot talk to a person, when you do you can’t contact billing they are conveniently no able to come to the phone. the service we recieved from straight talk was great this is a better option the family mobile powered by t-mobile

    1. The absolute worst customer service ever. This service is horrible just try to get through to customer service I dare you. If you want to pay your bill it cost you 5 dollars to do it by phone, if you go to wall mart to pay it cost you .88 cents what a joke. You want a great phone service “Ting” they have nice people that talk to you when you call. You also do not have to go through the maze that you do with Wall mart family Mobile.

    2. Overcharge for internet service. there is not any resolution other than to pay their bill. internet is not reliable. there is not physical address to fix any bill problem. The Wal-Mart employee did not recommended to any one.

    3. Walmart Family Mobile is the worst phone, worst customer service, worst billing I ever saw. Phone dropped calls and froze up all the time. My friend who lives 4 miles away was charged long distance charges on her home phone from my phone. Even though I had service stopped Jan 2, she is still getting long distance charges from that phone number dated Feb 14th. When I called to report it stolen and have service stopped it took almost an hour to get a live person on the line. I’ve called twice but still getting billed after over a month.

  2. My wife and daughter bought sim cards for their phones when their contract ran out on TMobile. They love it, and the speeds seem to be the same but not as expensive. I hope to add my line once my contractg is over from AT&T. Thanks for the review.

  3. DO NOT EXPECT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE from WalMart Family TMobile. I sent my phone(Samsung Dart) into the Return Center in Rochester, NY to have it serviced or replaced. That was on 10/30/2012 and here it is 1/22/2013 and I STILL HAVEN’T GOTTEN IT BACK!!! I have called sometimes 3 times a week. I have sent numerous emails and I have even written them. They give me a different story on the phone every time I call. Do not use WalMart Family TMobile….that is, IF you need ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE??? THEY DON”T CARE!!

  4. I have called 3 times with questions and had the best customer service I have ever had ever. sprint sucked their customer service sucked their dropped calls 5 times in a call sucked their wait time to hold for calls 20 minutes sucked and they charged wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more money. I love this plan and the customer service has been wonderful!!!!!!!!!

  5. I started out a Straight Talk customer with a plain cell phone. I wanted to upgrade to an android device and chose Family mobile since it was a little cheaper. Mistake. My coverage was worse and I had many dropped calls. Data seemed very slow, sometimes wouldn’t work at all. Went back to Straight Talk with my Family Mobile phone. MUCH BETTER!!!!

  6. the worse cell phone service ive ever had, and almost no reception. and you can never get a hold of anyone at t-mobile. completely useless.

  7. I have been a customer of Walmart Family Mobile since March 7, 2014. Their customer service is excellent. I’m not sure why these people are posting that it’s terrible customer service.I can tell you this, without hesitation: Walmart Family Mobile is a fine company to deal with. I am ranking their customer service a five out 5 stars, and that VERY RARE for me to rank a company’s customer service that high.

Walmart and Lowe’s take care of their customers!!! Please DO NOT hesitate to purchase the Walmart Family Mobile plan, and when you need appliances, purchase them at Lowe’s!!!
